Ara Institute of Canterbury is one of New Zealand’s leading tertiary institutes, with a strong reputation for applied, vocational and professional education.

With campuses in Christchurch and Timaru, Ara offers more than 150 certificates, diplomas, degrees and graduate qualifications across a wide range of subjects and career paths.

At Ara, learning goes beyond the classroom. Students learn from tutors with real-world industry experience and have opportunities to build skills, experience and connections through work placements, apprenticeships, industry-based projects and internships.

Being part of Ara also means being part of the wider community. With a focus on connection and belonging, alongside practical, industry-connected learning, Ara prepares graduates for their next step with relevant skills, experience and confidence.

Ara’s partnership with Canterbury Cricket and Hagley Oval builds on this commitment to connection, celebrating sport’s ability to bring people together,

create shared experiences and foster a sense of pride.
