The Over-55s will play five 45-over matches simultaneously while the over-50s will play 3 O50Is (45-over games) at top grounds around greater Christchurch, plus the world’s first ever masters Test match, an epic 3-day encounter at the beautiful Mainpower Oval in Rangiora. A points system will decide the overall series winner.

The New Zealand and Australian over-50s have a rivalry that dates back to 2018. The first series, held in Nelson back in 2018, was shared 1-1. Australia won both games that the sides played in the 2018 World Cup en route to winning the tournament. New Zealand then won both matches in the rain-affected 2022 Tri-Series to tie things up again, and then also beat the Aussies in Cape Town during the 2023 IMC Over-50s World Cup. A strong Australian side won all 3 matches played in 2024 (one in Blenheim and two in Mildura). Most recently, the Grey Caps tipped over the favoured Aussies in a warm-up match to the 2025 IMC Over-50s World Cup.

Overall, the series stands at 6-5 to Australia.

The over-55s have played each other 4 times, with the Aussies winning 3 of these. However, all 4 games have been very close and have had some extremely high scores.
