Community Partners

Partners in creating stronger communities and unforgettable experiences at Hagley Oval Precinct.

Funding Partners

We are proud to acknowledge the generous support of our funding partners — many of whom have been with us since the very beginning. Their contributions were instrumental in the development of the Hadlee Pavilion, the installation of the Hagley Oval Lights, and the construction of the Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Centre.

These long-standing relationships, built on shared vision and trust, continue to play a vital role in sustaining Hagley Oval as a world-class venue. Their ongoing investment ensures we can deliver high-quality facilities, nurture grassroots cricket, and create memorable experiences for our community, now and into the future.

Play It Forward

About the Program

At Hagley Oval, we believe in the power of sport to unite and uplift communities. That’s why we created Play It Forward – our dedicated Giving Program that supports schools, sports clubs, and local organisations in their fundraising efforts.

Each year, we receive applications from groups across Canterbury seeking assistance to raise funds for equipment, travel, uniforms, or community initiatives. In response, we’re proud to contribute a wide range of in-kind donations that help these groups run successful raffles, auctions, and fundraising events.

Our contributions include Hagley Oval branded merchandise – from caps, hats, coffee keep cups and water bottles, to premium items such as merino throws and umbrellas. We also provide exclusive experiences and venue offerings such as Pavilion Club memberships, guest passes for specific matches, hospitality vouchers, Sports Centre lane hire, and curated match day experiences that money can’t buy.

More Than a Donation – A Commitment to Community
The Play It Forward program is about more than just giving items – it’s about giving back to the community that supports us. It reflects our values as a charitable trust and reinforces our role as a connector within the sporting ecosystem.

As part of this commitment, we also proudly support Canterbury Metro Cricket Association (CMCA) initiatives that celebrate grassroots contributions. These include the CMCA Volunteer of the Week award (in collaboration with Cricket Express) and the CMCA Presidents Grade Player of the Week award – recognising the players, supporters, and volunteers who embody the spirit of local cricket.

In the 2024/25 season, we contributed more than $50,000 worth of items and experiences to support fundraising initiatives across the region. From small schools to large clubs, and individual fundraisers to charity events, we’re honoured to play a role in the efforts that make a real difference locally.

Applications are Open

We are now accepting applications for support through our Play It Forward – Giving Program. If your school, club, or community organisation is planning a fundraiser, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a limited allocation of support available through the Play It Forward – Giving Program, so while we aim to assist as many groups as possible, we unfortunately can’t guarantee support for every application. To ensure we can spread the benefit widely, each application is assessed on a first-in, first-served basis, and our contributions are tailored to suit the needs of each group.

Additional criteria may apply, including a requirement to acknowledge the support received through your own networks or event materials. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to hearing how we can help your fundraiser succeed.

To apply, simply complete our application form (below) and tell us how we can help support your efforts.
