28 August 2026. A huge thank you to the Christchurch Casino Charitable Trust (CCCT) for their support in helping fund partial power costs for the light towers at Hagley Oval. Even when the light towers don’t get turned on, the Canterbury Cricket Trust still absorbs cost to have them there for when we do need them! Big lights come with big power bills! This funding plays an important role in supporting the Canterbury Cricket Trusts work in providing the facilities and resources at the Hagley Oval Precinct that our community get to use and enjoy. Our iconic light towers make Hagley Oval a truly special venue, enabling us to host exciting day-night cricket and create memorable experiences for players, supporters, and the wider community. 11 August 2026. Hagley Oval and the Canterbury Cricket Trust would like to extend our sincere thanks to The Lion Foundation, Perpetual Guardian, and Pub Charity for their generous support towards the upgrade of our CCTV security system. Thanks to their funding, we have been able to install additional security cameras across the venue and upgrade our CCTV software to a modern, more effective system. These improvements significantly enhance the safety and security of our facilities, helping to better protect visitors, staff, players, and the wider community. The upgraded system provides improved coverage of car parks and public areas, supports the day-to-day management of the venue, and plays an important role in ensuring safe and efficient operations on major event and game days. We are incredibly grateful to The Lion Foundation, Perpetual Guardian, and Pub Charity for investing in projects that strengthen community facilities and improve the experience of everyone who uses Hagley Oval. 22 May 2026. The Canterbury Cricket Trust (CCT) to extend a big thank you to the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) for their recent support in funding the wages of our Executive Manager. This role is absolutely vital to the CCT and the day-to-day operation of Hagley Oval. From coordinating events and managing relationships through to ensuring the smooth running of the facility, our Executive Manager plays a key part in everything we do. Without this position, the Trust simply wouldn’t function in the way it does today. This funding also creates a wider community benefit. By helping cover this essential role, the CCT are able to redirect resources into improving facilities and supporting initiatives that encourage participation in sport and recreation for people of all ages. The CCT are incredibly grateful for this support and the positive impact it has on both our organisation and the wider community. Thanks again NZCT!!

Having the ability to play under lights allows Hagley Oval to deliver more cricket, more often — including evening matches, broadcast fixtures, and new event opportunities that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. It helps us maximise the use of this iconic venue and continue to grow the cricket experience for players, fans, and the wider community.
